One of my good friends gave me an excellent book that I want to share with all of you. It is called "How Full Is Your Bucket?" She gave it to our family in hopes that is would help us as much as it has helped her family. I wanted to use it as a Family Home Evening lesson because she gave us 6 buckets to go with it, however, each of my kids have read it multiple times and are already applying the principles on their own. Yea!
The concept of the book is that each of us has an invisible bucket. When our bucket is full, we feel great. When it's empty, we feel awful. The book is about a boy named Felix who begins to see how every interaction in a day either fills or empties his bucket. Felix then realized that everything HE says or does to other people fills or empties their buckets as well. Felix learns to be a great bucket filler, and in the process, discovers that filling someone else's bucket also fill his own. I love this imagery!
So, I read this book to McKay one night before bed and the first time through he was trying to figure out the whole invisible bucket idea. Then he begged me to read it again, so we did. When we finished he said that his bucket was empty at school because when he was at his center one of the girls told him to stop talking because he is annoying. (How mean!) But, Ahhhaaa! He gets it! The next morning McKay wakes up and comes straight to me and asks me if my bucket is full or empty. All day he wants me to evaluate my bucket. He gives me hugs and kisses or tells me he loves me to see if he can add a drop to my bucket. It works!
I just dropped him off to Jaxson's (his best friend) house and as he was about to shut the door he asked, "How full is your bucket, Mom?" and blew me a kiss! "My bucket is so full it is brimming over, McKay!" So cute, love that boy!

You have a bond with him that is so precious. Heavenly Father gave you a BIG test with Mac Man and I believe part of the blessing of that trial has been the love and bonding between a mom and her son. He is truly a boy that gives so much.... kisses and hugs and kindness. What would we do without Mac Man?????
That made me well (sp) up with tears! I have goosebumps. He is so sensitive and loving to you. It must have been the bond you created with him during your pregnancy, but more that anything the wonderful supportive mom you are to him. He knows you will always be there for him. You can see it in his eyes- he loves his Momma. You are the best mother!!
