Of course as any kid does, she has been counting down the days for a month or more. One thing that is good and not so good about Hallie is that she never really knows what she wants for gifts. This is good because she is so easy going that whatever she gets she is happy with, but it is not so good when I don't have any ideas of what she would REALLY like. We gave her nice leather-bonded scriptures set and case and a Nintendo DS game. Tonight we are having family over for cake and ice cream.
Another interesting thing about Hallie is that she is very giving and generous. If she has money she would rather spend it on someone else than herself. At Christmas time she had $38 and she had McKay's name for Christmas. She spent her whole wad on him and got him a Lego Indiana Jones game for his PS2. Way generous for a sibling gift in our family! Just the other day McKay was begging for the "Love Monkey" Webkinz pet and she insisted she buy the pet for him with the money she got for her birthday. We refused to let her do that but praised her for her generosity.
Hallie has been praying for as long as Grandpa Randy has been gone that he would be able to attend her baptism. She feels really jyped that Aubrey and Breanna had Grandpa at their baptisms and she won't have him at hers. Of course we all deal with grief differently but Hallie expresses her sadness often. Today I asked her what she wanted me to write on her cake and she said, "Grandpa's Angel Is Turning 8"
One of my favorite things about Hallie is that lately she won't let us leave the house without giving her a hug and kiss. She gets very sad if we leave without her affection. This is probably a phase but I wish it would never end.
Hallie has brought us so much joy and laughter. She is so very loved.
So to my sweet Hallie Dawn I want to wish you a very Happy 8th Birthday and hope it was worth waiting for!
